On April 26 and 27, 2019, Bonhams will open the doors of the Tupelo Automobile Museum in New York for the last time and auction off the entire collection of around 160 automobiles built between 1890 and the late 1990s.
Enthusiastic collector
Frank R. Spain has been passionate about cars all his life. In the 1970s, he began to build up a large collection, which he worked on until his death in 2006. His wife took over the collection, but now feels the time has come to pass the cars on to other passionate enthusiasts. The money will go to a foundation.
Highlights of the auction are likely to be the 1948 Tucker, which was used in the Indianapolis tests at the time, and a 1929 Duesenberg Model J Sedan. Vehicles from Europe include Bentley. Lagonda, Talbot-Lago and Hispano-Suiza.
