Toyota Germany has taken over the private vehicle collection of Peter Pichert: The Toyota dealer from the very beginning, who died last year, had founded the first private Toyota museum in Hartkirchen am Inn in Lower Bavaria in 1994. Autohaus Pichert has been selling vehicles from the Japanese brand in Passau since the early 1970s.
With great passion and expertise, Peter Pichert has put together a unique collection of over 100 historic vehicles over the years, ranging from the Toyota 1000 small car to the legendary Toyota 2000 GT sports car.
The "1st German Toyota Museum" also includes special series and individual pieces, such as an early presentation vehicle of the hybrid pioneer Prius and a Land Cruiser FJ45 converted into a small fire-fighting vehicle.
Following the death of the collector and company founder last year, Toyota Deutschland GmbH reached an agreement with the Pichert family to take over the collection of more than 100 vehicles, including engines and spare parts.
"We are very proud that the vehicle collection will continue to be managed by Toyota Deutschland in Cologne in the future," explains Birgit Pichert, who runs the Pichert dealership together with her brother Peter Pichert Jr. "So we know that our father's legacy is in good and responsible hands."
The Toyota Museum in Hartkirchen will close its doors on July 1, 2017, and the vehicle collection will be on display again in Cologne from around the end of 2017.
