The Touring Car Revival is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. The premiere event as part of the VLN Endurance Championship Nürburgring on 1 and 2 May 2009 remains unforgotten to this day, when a handful of enthusiasts organized a pure demonstration drive with ex-DTM vehicles. Ten years later, the motorsport child has grown up. The result is a regularity test with sporting aspects. What has remained are the former virtues, the relaxed interaction with one another - both on and off the race track.
"If someone had told us back then that the Touring Car Revival would be firmly established as a racing series in the national motorsport landscape in ten years' time, we would have declared them crazy," says Alexander Ferreira, then as now the series organizer. "A lot has happened since then. Nevertheless, we still want to offer the participants an optimal platform to drive the aged racing cars on the race track in a suitable setting. BMW M3 E30, Mercedes-Benz 190 and Ford Sierra are far too good for the museum."
Four events are on the program in the anniversary year, three of them together with the new Touring Car Legends racing series. The first event is the "Grand Prix of the City of Magdeburg" from May 17 to 19 at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. Germany's northernmost race track will also host the second event from August 2 to 4. The ADAC Racing Weekend marks a new event format on the Börde circuit with a number of interesting series. In midsummer, from August 30 to September 1, the Touring Car Revival will make a stop at the Nordsee Cup in Zandvoort, the Netherlands. The dune circuit, just a stone's throw from the North Sea coast, has a long tradition and exudes a unique flair. The last race of 2019 will take place at the Nürburgring from October 4 to 6. The best drivers of the year will be crowned at the ADAC / RGB season finale.
One day before the opening event, the participants of the Touring Car Revival in Oschersleben also have the opportunity to give themselves and their vehicles the finishing touches. Thanks to the long-standing partnership with the DSK, there will be a separate group for historic touring cars at the "Hugo Emde Freien Fahren" on May 15.
In the 2019 Touring Car Revival, vehicles will compete in five classes: touring cars from the German Racing Championship up to and including 1986 (Class 1), touring cars from the German Touring Car Championship up to and including 2006 (Class 3), touring cars from Classes 1 and 2 as replicas (Class 3), touring cars from international and national championships up to and including 2007 on application (Class 4) and Porsche touring cars from 1984 to 1999 that comply with the corresponding Porsche Cup regulations (Class 5).
