The Touring Car Classics (TWC) enters its fifth season with the opening race at the Salzburgring. Since its inception in 2015, the focus has been on the popular racing cars from the so-called "Golden Era".
Live broadcast directly from the race field
The DTM cars from the early years of 1984 to 1992, such as the BMW M3 E30, Mercedes 190 EVO and Ford Sierra RS500, together with the Super Touring Cars in the two-liter class from 1993 to 2000, form the core of the series - supplemented by icons from the German Racing Championship. For this reason, a sprint race will be held specifically for the cars of the "Golden Era" on Saturday afternoon from the Salzburgring 2020, before the entire field consisting of DTM, STW, DTC and DRM takes to the track on Sunday. As in the past, the action will be commentated by Rainer Braun, who will accompany the TWC as track commentator. While the races and the flair at the track will be broadcast via livestream in the TWC magazine.
The good old days
The many ex-DTM professionals who climb into their former cars are particularly popular with the fans, providing additional excitement on and off the track. 22 ex-DTM drivers compete at the TWC and are busy signing autographs in the paddock. Kris Nissen, Prince Leopold of Bavaria, Roland Asch, Harald Grohs, Olaf Manthey, Marc Hessel, Christian Menzel and Otto Rensing will even be competing for the championship crown again. It is therefore not surprising that defending champion Armin Hahne (Ford Sierra Cosworth) has re-entered the championship with his 1988 machine. This year together with his son Felix Hahne.
