The Swiss Classic Award was presented for the first time in May 2018. The second round will take place in 2019. Once again, the prizes will be awarded at a gala dinner at the Swiss Classic World classic car trade fair in Lucerne on May 25, 2019.
The award recognizes the achievements of individuals and institutions or associations that have rendered outstanding services to the promotion and recognition of historic vehicles as a rolling cultural asset.
Four categories
The award is divided into four categories. The Swiss Classic Life Time Award is the main prize among these. There are also awards in the areas of young talent, innovation and addressing new target groups.
The jury members are Urs P. Ramseier, Swiss Car Register; Berhard Täschler, President Swiss Historic Vehicle Federation SHVF; Maja Guetg, garage owner; Dörte Welti, journalist; Mattia Tonella, President Urelfer Club Switzerland; Martin Sigrist, automotive journalist.
Dynamic categories
The structure of the award was designed to be dynamic from the outset, allowing the fields in which special achievements are recognized to be adapted. Possible candidates can be nominated by anyone on the Swiss Classic Awards website.
The jury of experts will examine these, select suitable candidates and present them. Only the winner of the Swiss Classic Life Time Award is chosen by the expert jury, while the other prizes are decided by a public vote.
Another key aspect of the Swiss Classic Awards is that the net proceeds from the gala awards ceremony are donated to a sustainable project or forward-looking initiative in the classic and vintage car scene.
