Once again this year, the Historic Trophy Nürburgring is the first of the major historic motorsport events to be held on the legendary Eifel racetrack. From June 17 to 19, 2016, it will offer three days of fascinating racing at the highest level. It goes without saying that the legendary Nordschleife will once again feature heavily in the program. In addition, the organizers will once again offer interested owners of historic vehicles extensive opportunities to actively participate in the events on the track.
Something for everyone
"We are once again putting together an extremely attractive programme that should have something for everyone interested in historic automobiles and motorsport," says Gerd E. Minn, Head of Organization of the organizing Düsseldorfer Automobil- und Motorsport-Club 05 e.V. im ADAC (DAMC 05), looking ahead. "In addition to our proven crowd favorites such as the 'Battle of the Dwarves' or the Formula Vau and many others, four racing series are celebrating their Historic Trophy debut this year. Other special features of our event include the intensive integration of the Nordschleife on all three days of the event as well as the numerous opportunities for fans and spectators to become part of the program themselves. Of course, I am thinking first and foremost of our regularity runs for brand clubs."
Three new series
Probably the most spectacular of the three new series is the BOSS GP. This has nothing to do with the well-known fashion company, rather the name stands for Big Open Single Seater. In addition to Formula 1 cars, these large open single-seaters also include former GP2 and Superleague Formula cars as well as cars from talent factories such as the World Series by Renault, Formula Nissan V6 and Formula 3000.
The Touring Car Classics will celebrate their premiere. This new series revives the golden era of touring car racing. The fascinating and highly emotional touring cars of the 80s and 90s are returning to the race track and will be on show for the first time at the 2016 Historic Trophy.
Fans with a soft spot for the illustrious Italian brands can look forward to the Scuderia Alfa Classico races, which are open to all vehicles from the Fiat Group.
Less historic but all the more spectacular
The DMV GT and Touring Car Cup undoubtedly occupies a special position in this year's Historic Trophy Nürburgring program. Although the cars entered are anything but historic, they are all the more spectacular. Where else can you see exotic cars such as the Pagani Zonda, Ferrari 488 GT3 and Chrysler Viper GTS-R in a direct duel against each other?
One of the unmistakable characteristics of the Historic Trophy Nürburgring is the extreme proximity to the spectators. Hardly any other motorsport event offers fans such a deep and direct insight into the exciting events on and off the track. For example, every admission ticket grants unlimited access to the paddock at no extra cost.
Offer also for individuals
Lovers of well-maintained young and oldtimers in standard condition can look forward to the large brand club meeting, where several hundred proud owners will present their highly polished "treasures". The owners not only present their automotive favorites statically, but also take them out on the Grand Prix circuit and the Nordschleife in a manner befitting their species. However, membership of a brand club is not required. The offer is also aimed at individuals.
