The fifties are without doubt one of the most dazzling decades of the last century. Characterized by a spirit of optimism and the hustle and bustle of reconstruction, the development of the Porsche brand also gathered pace. A decisive decade for the sports car manufacturer Porsche, in which the foundations were laid for the company's current success.
Insights into the early years
The special exhibition "Porsche and the Fifties. From Stuttgart to the world." offers a variety of insights into the early years of the Porsche brand and the exhilarating lifestyle of the 1950s until September 13. In addition to the characteristic vehicles of this period, such as the first Porsche 356 sports car and the 550 Spyder, two items on loan form an extraordinary eye-catcher among the exhibits.
Ferry Porsche's private motorboat from 1959, powered by a 52 hp 4-cylinder boxer engine, as well as the rare and unusual "Allgaier P 312 - System Porsche" plantation tractor.
Large racing pictures bring the era back to life
The large-format racing pictures by photographer Marianne Fürstin zu Sayn-Wittgenstein are a reflection of the era and also play a central role in the exhibition. They provide an exclusive insight into motorsport history and document the events surrounding the racing heroes of the time and their sports cars. With her photographs, the Princess gives the viewer an insight into the VIP areas and pit lanes that were not accessible to racegoers. She has always succeeded in capturing the special atmosphere at the racetracks and preserving these moments for eternity.
The exhibition at the Porsche Museum can be seen until September 13, Tuesdays to Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.Further information is available on the Porsche Museum website.
