It is impossible to discuss the history of the car industry without mentioning the name Giorgetto Giugiaro. He influenced the design of modern cars more than anyone else. He designed over 200 vehicles, including countless icons of automotive design. And he combined his artistic talent with the strict technical nature of automobile construction.
In December 1999, 120 experts from all over the world named Giorgetto Giugiaro "Car Designer of the Century". His designs have become four-wheeled milestones. From the Alfa GT Junior to the Alfasud, Golf, Panda, Passat, Punto, Croma, Thema and the Alfa Romeo 159 - we all know them and have probably owned one of these cars, ridden in one or at least admired one of them.
And for half a century, it was these cars that repeatedly caused a stir at trade fairs and motor shows. Many of the major car manufacturers approached the Italian company in Moncalieri to give their latest products a suitable cover.
Although there are many vehicles on display, the exhibition in Turin is not just a car show. It is more about capturing Giugiaro as a person and designer and describing his path. Where did he come from, what could he do, who did he know, what moved him? The special exhibition, which is open until February 25, 2017, is definitely worth a visit!
Further information about the exhibition can be found on the museum's website.
