Most of the major events and trade fairs have been canceled in 2020. As a classic car enthusiast, you are therefore looking for alternatives to meet like-minded people and admire old sheet metal - of course in compliance with the current corona protection measures. Motorworld Köln at Butzweiler Hof offers one of these alternatives.
Invitation to a journey through time
ADAC Nordrhein has also been presenting itself here since October 27: six special exhibits from the more than 100-year history of the largest ADAC regional club can be seen - spread over the area of the former airport. They invite you to take a short, individual journey back in time - even in Corona times: The Hanomag Type P, better known as "Kommissbrot", was on the road as a road patrol vehicle for the ADAC in 1928, a VW Beetle from 1959 and the VW T1 Samba from 1966 are on the road as traditional vehicles for the ADAC Nordrhein. Other exhibits include the BME R 60/2 road patrol vehicle with Steib special sidecar (1961) and the BMW K 75 dust collector's motorcycle from 1994. Each vehicle is presented with a large information board that explains the technical data of the respective exhibit as well as its use by the ADAC. A historical context is also provided, for example on politics, society or motorsport. In addition, several showcases display further contemporary testimonies and exhibits from over 120 years of ADAC history.
Visitors can also pick up their free copy of the new ADAC Oldtimer Bordbuch and the Oldtimer Beifahrerfibel on site.
The special exhibition can be seen during normal opening hours (Monday to Saturday 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.) in compliance with the current hygiene regulations at Motorworld Köln and can be combined with a visit to the Michael Schumacher permanent exhibition, for example. Admission is free.
Further information is available from ADAC Nordrhein via Jürgen Cüpper, on the ADAC Nordrhein website or on the Motorworld Köln website.
