There have never been so many "quattro celebrities" as at the 13th edition of the quattrolegende, which will take place from July 4 to 7, 2018: First and foremost, Walter Röhrl will once again delight the "real rally fans" away from the many show stages of this world. But Stig Blomqvist also took a liking to this enthusiast event during his last visit in 2016. He is joined by Walter Treser, Harald Demuth, Rudi Stohl, Reini Sampl and Otto Harsch, who brings four former Audi Sport employees to St. Gilgen...
"People say: 'Röhrl is the only normal one - he doesn't push you away or leave you standing there, he signs autographs until his fingers crack - if you've parked your car somewhere back there and there are photos in it that you want signed, then he'll run with you to that car!' And that, I think, is what makes it work. And that in turn doesn't make my life easy, because you're under a lot of pressure. But it's a need for me. If I go there, then I should be available to the people" - this is how Walter Röhrl spoke when he honored the quattro legend three years ago.
At the 13th edition of this cult event around St. Gilgen on Lake Wolfgang, Röhrl will once again be coming to St. Gilgen and the Postalm as the big star guest of organizer Peter Reischl. At his last guest appearance there, fans were able to chat with Walter Röhrl at their leisure - it's about an in-depth experience, not superficial autographs. The quattro legend is a meeting place for true lovers of rallying, which is still closely interwoven with the quattro drive.
Even though Röhrl was unable to win either of his two world championship titles with Audi, he is convinced: "The time with the Audi quattro was my most revolutionary phase. I only ever did one thing my whole life: I was looking for traction, that was sick! And suddenly there's a car where that's no longer an issue. A car that always has traction in every situation - that was the fascinating thing."
But it is also fascinating that the very man who lent his name to this cult object called Audi quattro will also be attending quattrolegende 2018: Walter Treser! Born in 1940 in the German Odenwald region, the automotive and aircraft engineer was responsible for the rally program as Head of Audi Sport from 1980.
Closely associated with Audi quattro, however, is the man who already attracted a great deal of public interest in 2016: Stig Blomqvist. The 1984 World Rally Champion achieved eight of his eleven victories in the World Rally Championship with an Audi quattro.
Harald Demuth is also a friend of the quattro legend; the multiple German rally champion once caused a sensation when he conquered an uphill ski jump in an Audi quattro. But there is no trace of aloofness - the German loves the rally fans and they love him.
The same applies to Austria's Rudi Stohl, who always has an open ear for the concerns of his numerous fans.
With Reini Sampl, an Audi driver of the modern era is joining the quattro legend. But he is more than just one of the current rally drivers. Since a serious accident as a ski racer, Sampl has been confined to a wheelchair. He embodies the eternal fighter who never gives up...
In addition to many other well-known and/or "just" passionate Audi quattro enthusiasts, Otto Harsch will also honor the quattro legend with his visit, he will conduct four former Audi Sport employees to St. Gilgen on Lake Wolfgang.
Something is brewing - for the 13th edition of quattrolegende. There have never been so many "quattro celebrities" at the cult and, above all, enthusiast event...
