Another classic car rally with a stopwatch, special stages and stress? Nobody needs that. The Rattenfänger Classic (17.-19.07.2026) is aimed at drivers who want to enjoy their car - not rush it. No time controls, no sporting ambition, just scenery, conversation and a vehicle-friendly approach to historic technology. Initiated by the Motor Veteranen Club Hameln e.V. under Reinhard Burkart, the event is now being continued and sensibly rejuvenated by Mark Kessler.
The start is in the old town of Hamelin and the route takes in the picturesque Weserbergland region. The base camp is the Schlosshotel Münchhausen from 1570 - with an evening gala and live music. Even pre-war vehicles are welcome; there is a short 70-km route for them. Finale: Concours d'Élégance in the Bad Pyrmont spa gardens under palm trees. A variety of rare vehicles, beautifully preserved and carefully curated. Classic car culture can be that simple!
