A classic car rally in the familiar style is not possible in 2020. That's why the Lägern Classic Association launched the first Lägern Classic Cruise around the eponymous Jura mountain on Sunday, September 6.
It was an attempt ... and it succeeded: around 250 classic and vintage cars drove around the Lägern.
Covid-19-save
With the Federal Council's decision to ban events with more than 1,000 participants until 1 October, it was clear to the organizing association that no "classic" Lägern Classic would take place on the grounds of Hubacontrol AG in Würenlos in 2020.
But September 6 should not be completely without classic cars. That's why the association organized the Lägern Classic Cruise, starting and finishing in Würenlos. The route led around the Lägern, from Würenlos via Otelfingen, Buchs, Regensdorf, Dielsdorf, Niederweningen, Ennetbaden, Baden and Wettingen back to Würenlos - or the whole thing in the opposite direction.
Dry but cool
In cool, albeit dry weather, around 250 vintage and classic car owners responded to the call - with 2, 3 or 4 wheels. Once again, it was a colorful bouquet of vehicles, from the VW Beetle to the distinguished Brit to the American muscle car, everything was represented.
And the opinion of all participants was clear: "Good idea that you are doing something, even if it is of course a shame that a proper meeting was not possible."
And Dino Graf from the OC said: "We discussed at length whether we should hold the cruise as an alternative. The satisfied faces of the participants proved us right and motivate us to plan a proper meeting again in 2021...if this is possible then."
