It is now official, previously there were only rumors. The Rétromobile Paris will be postponed from February to March. The exact date is new: March 16 to 20, 2022.
It is still unclear whether some of the exhibitors with large stands, who have already canceled for February, will still take part in March 2022.
The internationally important classic car show was originally scheduled to take place from February 2 to 6, 2022, but had to be postponed a good three weeks before the start due to the ongoing pandemic.
The official statement reads:
"In view of the tense situation at the beginning of the new year, several countries have taken restrictive measures that have led to certain visitors or exhibitors delaying or not even confirming their participation in the fair originally scheduled for February 2-6. According to a survey, more than 80% of our customers were in favor of the new dates.
Visitors will be able to discover all the special shows and elements of the event program that were originally planned: the tribute to the magician Amédée Gordini, the youngtimers of Group A, the vehicles of the French Gendarmerie Nationale, the only existing replica of the Fardier by Cugnot, the TRIDIM Aerotrain by Jean Bertin... not forgetting the Panther from the Saumur Tank Museum, a rare Rochet cutter from the 18400 series from 1921 presented by the Fondation Berliet, the 50th anniversary of the Renault 5, the traditional Artcurial auction and many other surprises!"
Of course, not only the fair itself is affected by the postponement, but also the Artcurial auctions, while RM/Sotheby's and Bonhams are obviously sticking to their respective dates of February 2 and 3, 2022, although their auctions also take place in the same week and benefit from the large audience. Only the Artcurial date has therefore been moved to March.
All information about Rétromobile Paris can be found on the event website.
P.S. With the new date, the classic car show in Paris unfortunately overlaps with Retro Classics in Stuttgart.
