"Le passé a toujours un futur" is the motto of the 40th Rétromobile 2015. It is intended to show how important the cultural heritage of classic cars is and that classic vehicles are still modern today and nothing of the past. From February 4 to 8, 2015, around 100,000 car enthusiasts will once again make the pilgrimage to Paris to enjoy, marvel at and experience classic vehicles, vintage cars and everything that surrounds them. Themes and exhibitions revolve around the collection of Corrado Lopresto, the Spanish brand Pegaso, European tanks, the Baillon barn find and much more.
Italian design gems from the Lopresto collection
At the age of 16, Corrado Lopresto was gripped by a passion for Italian car design. From then on, the Milanese architect and project developer spent his life tracking down and collecting prototypes and vehicles with unique bodies. He amassed a unique collection, from which 12 beautiful vehicles will be shown for the first time worldwide at the Rétromobile 2015.The models on display are said to have won over 180 awards and prizes at the most prestigious Concours d'Elégance around the world.
Legendary brand from Spain in Paris
The Pegaso brand originated in the rather unstable Spain of the post-war period and has a fascinating history. At the Rétromobile this February, breathtaking and beautiful models from the legendary brand, such as the technological showpiece Pegaso Z-102, will be on display.
Tanks from Germany and France tell of the war
For the 40th edition of the Rétromobile, the Tank Museum in Saumur is presenting one of the stars of its collection: the "Royal Tiger" of the German army, which was used in the Second World War. It was the largest, heaviest, most powerful, most impressive and most destructive armored fighting vehicle of its time and the Rétromobile is showing it.
Another exhibit from the Tank Museum is an AMX 30 tank from 1962, which was very modern for its time thanks to its robust and reliable multi-fuel engine from Hispano Suiza. The French tank was fast, maneuverable and powerful. At the Rétromobile, visitors can experience first-hand how the 36-tonne colossus is maneuvered around.
Artcurial auctions Baillon barn find
On February 6, Artcurial will also be auctioning off the 60 vehicles from Jacques Baillon's collection that were found last year after 50 years in sheds and shelters.
Bugatti Royale, Wimille, Matra, Porsche 936
The Cité de l'Automobile is the largest automobile museum in the world. It will be exhibiting the three Bugatti Royale, which were built for kings, at the 40th Rétromobile. In addition, the Wimille of the great French racing driver Jean-Pierre Wimille from 1946 will be on display.
