It's set to start again in March 2022: The classic car scene will kick off the coming season with the 21st edition of the Stuttgart Retro Classics (March 17-20, 2022). In addition to a comprehensive exhibition, a huge vehicle sales market and an international parts market, the major classic car trade fair in southern Germany aims to score points with exciting special shows and also venture a look into the automotive future. The organizers are expecting a lively response from the public and exhibitors.
Preparations for the 21st edition are in full swing
After Retro Classics had to be postponed last year due to the pandemic, preparations for the 21st edition are now in full swing. At the start of the 2022 season, the world's largest trade fair for driving culture will once again welcome dealers, collectors and classic car enthusiasts from all over the world. The organizers in Stuttgart are in an optimistic mood: "After the long break, our entire team is looking forward to continuing the success story of Retro Classics," says Karl Ulrich Herrmann, Managing Partner of Retro Messen GmbH and founder of Retro Classics. Even in Corona times, the classic car market has certainly remained on the move.
"The numerous positive responses that we receive from the scene and from dealers show us very clearly that there is no substitute for the direct exchange of ideas at a face-to-face trade fair," says Herrmann. "Trade fairs enable encounters at eye level and offer experiences for all the senses." In recent months, a veritable information and investment backlog has developed in many places, which now gives hope for a successful start to the season in Stuttgart.
Automotive passion
An all-round brilliant start, which becomes an overall experience thanks to a coherent trade fair concept: From venerable pre-war classics to roadworthy youngtimers to exclusive Neo Classics®, from historic commercial vehicles to cheeky US cars and motorcycles to spare parts, insurance, services, accessories and accessories, there are countless highlights and superlatives to discover in the exhibition halls.
The whole event is rounded off by a large vehicle sales market, an international parts market, lavish club presentations and an informative and entertaining supporting program. As a trade fair for driving culture in the best sense of the word, Retro Classics is by no means only looking backwards, but also looking to the future of individual mobility.
Exciting special shows
The popular special shows, which have always been an integral part of the brand essence of all Retro Classics trade fairs, reflect this thematic field of tension. An extensive exhibition celebrating the 101-year anniversary of the Italian brand Moto Guzzi will review a long success story in motorcycle production that continues to the present day.
In contrast, the "Bugatti Royale" - officially called the Type 41 - was a legendary flop, which is the focus of another exhibition: the luxurious model was intended to compete with Rolls-Royce, Mercedes-Benz and Cadallac, but ultimately failed due to the global economic crisis. Only six examples were built, all of which have been preserved and are now among the great classics of automotive history.
In addition, the electrified DeLorean DMC-12 will once again be on display as an e-Lorean in the special show "Classic Cars - Future Heartbeat", and classic car driving will even be virtualized with SimRacing.
