Racing legend Brian Redman, newly inducted into the Motor Sport Hall of Fame, will make his debut at Europe's favorite historic motorsport event, Race Retro, taking place in Warwickshire from February 23-25, 2018.
Lancashire-born Brian, who excelled in sports cars and Formula 5000, drove a supercharged Morris Minor Traveller at Rufforth in 1959. It took six years for his career to take off. But in 1965 he was almost unbeatable in Charles Bridges' Lightweight Jaguar E-Type.
He drove in the Lola T70 for the first time in the sports car prototypes and then drove in the Ford GT40 at Le Mans in 1967. He also took part in Formula 2 races. In 1967, he won the Kyalami 9-hour race together with Jacky Ickx in the Wyer Mirage M1-Ford.
Redman made his Grand Prix debut in a Cooper T81 Maserati and in his second GP in Spain he finished third at the wheel of a BRM-engined T86B.
Redman managed to win almost every major sports car race in his career, the exception being the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Formula 1 was only ever a sideline, as he had made a new and successful career in the North American F5000.
After ending his full-time racing career, he ran Redman-Bright Engineering in Formula 3000 in 1997 and 1998 and is now a promoter of historic events in his native Florida in the USA. His autobiography "Daring Drivers, Deadly Tracks" was published in 2016.
Tickets for Race Retro, which will be held at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, from February 23-25, 2018, are on sale now.
