For the second time since 2021, the "Rendezvous am kleinen Klausen" will bring historic vehicles back to life on a historic race track on Sunday, September 8, 2024. The first third of the former race track of the Opfertshofen hill climb between the Reiatschulhaus and Opfertshofen will become a catwalk on which around 190 vintage cars, historic racing cars and 30 classic motorcycles from the years 1900 to 1985 will be presented.
When they are not thundering up the hill, the vehicles will be thrilling the public in the paddocks in the three Reiat villages of Altdorf, Bibern and Opfertshofen. A different automotive era is presented in each village. Particularly worth seeing: many of the participants also dress according to the era from which their vehicle originates.
The former Opfertshofen race
It was almost 100 years ago that racing cars and motorcycles first raced up the Opfertshofener Stich from today's Reiatschulhaus to the finish line in Büttenhardt. The race in the Reiat quickly became a success and took place intermittently until 1950. Due to the challenging course and its characteristics, the Opfertshofen mountain race was given the flattering nickname "little Klausen" by the well-known participants. The Klausen race on the pass of the same name between the cantons of Glarus and Schwyz was Europe's most famous race course at the time.
