On the occasion of the upcoming ModaMiami event, RM Sotheby's is organizing an auction on 27 February 2026 with some memorabilia and 90 vehicles, including a motorcycle. In total, the vehicles are worth USD 93.7 million and are on average a good 46 years old. Not quite half of the vehicle lots will go under the hammer without a reserve price.
Ferrari, Porsche, Aston Martin ... and American LaFrance
Four brands together account for more than half of the vehicles. Ferrari is represented with 24 cars, Porsche with eight and Aston Martin with seven. Then there is American LaFrance with 13 vehicles, all of which are sold "no reserve", but more on that later.
While the Ferrari is on average 25 years old and the Porsche 28 years old, the average age of Aston Martin sports cars is only six years.
The three Fords are responsible for a particularly high average value (according to estimates), but Bugatti is even higher with two young cars.
Pre-war, post-war and modern times
23 of the cars on offer are from the pre-war period; on average, these cars were valued at just over USD 300,000, with an Auburn and a Delage bearing the brunt. More than half of these cars went under the hammer without a reserve price.
At the other end of the spectrum are 33 cars that are not even youngtimers (20 years old). On average, these were valued at over one million, 40% are "no reserve".
In between are 34 cars built between 1946 and 2005. These are predominantly super classics, as evidenced by the average estimated value of over one million. Less than 40% are offered in this segment without a reserve price.
Fire engines
Lots 105 to 119 are vehicles from the "American LaFrance Corporate Collection".
These fire engines, almost all of which are of course at least partly in red, will go under the hammer without a reserve price and certainly look extremely decorative. They are probably less suitable for everyday use.
Red like a fire engine, but faster
The 1967 Ford GT40 Mk I with chassis number P/1058 was one of 31 road-going Ford GT40s. The car was one of the cars that can be seen on early vehicles from the Slough factory.
All owners since the beginning are known, the car was restored in the 2000s.
At USD 6.5 to 8 million, this Ford GT40 is now set to become the most expensive car in the auction.
Large selection of super classics
Whether you are looking for a Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider by Scaglietti from 1959 or a Lamborghini Miura P400S from 1969, the selection at RM Sotheby's in Miami is huge.
Even rare racing cars such as a Porsche 906 from 1966 (USD 1.3 to 1.7 million) are included and, of course, the obligatory Ferrari F40 from 1990 (USD 4 to 5 million) is not missing.
Among the well-known classics, however, there are also more exotic cars such as the 1970 Meyers Manx, the 1991 Isdera Imperator 108i or the beautiful 1937 Delage D8-120 Coach Aérosport Letourneur et Marchand (USD 2.5 to 3.5 million).
However, you shouldn't go to Miami with too tight a purse, as just 12 vehicles are expected to remain in the five-figure range if the estimates are anything to go by.
