On October 8 and 9, the Zoute Concours d'Elégance and the Zoute Grand Prix, including an auction by Bonhams, will take place in Knokke-Heist. The organizers can come up with a small sensation, as eight different designs of the Fiat Otto Vu (8V) presented in Geneva in 1952 will be presented at the Concours.
Body creators such as Vignale, Ghia, Zagato, Betone and Motto transformed Fiat's fast eight-cylinder into very different vehicles, some sporty, others luxurious. The fact that they can be compared in a small space is a unique opportunity and will certainly generate a lot of discussion.
While the factory coupé by designer Rapi had a rather conservative appearance, the bodies by Vignale, Ghia (Supersonic) and Bertone attracted a lot of attention.
In total, only 114 Fiat Otto Vu were built between 1952 and 1954, but the car remained competitive in sporting competitions almost until the end of the 1950s.
The Zoute Concours d'Elégance with around 50 exquisite classic cars and the accompanying rally have been among the most interesting and diverse events in Europe for years and are sure to attract many spectators again this year.
