The Rétromobile event poster has evolved from a pure advertising medium into a popular collector's item. After featuring motifs from Germany and Great Britain in the past two years, it is once again the turn of a car from the Rétromobile's home country for 2025: the Citroën ID. However, this is not just any ordinary car.
The unique hydropneumatics gave the idea for an unprecedented advertising stunt in 1959: to highlight the first-class comfort of the large Citroën, advertising manager Claude Puech had an ID 19 in the color "Ecaille Blonde" mounted on four orange balls and floated on a lake. The result was both a simple symbolization of technology and an avant-garde work of art. The photograph of Pierre Jahan shown in the brochure for the 1960 model year became one of the brand's best-known advertising motifs.
As usual, the poster motif announces the theme of the annually changing special exhibition. The 49th Salon Rétromobile will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Citroën DS from February 5 to 9, 2025.
