Just at the start of spring, vintage and classic car enthusiasts meet in Toffen for the Oldtimer Galerie Toffen auction. On March 21, 2026, in addition to some memorabilia, 89 vehicles will be offered for a total of CHF 2.7 million. This means that CHF 30,600 is expected per car/motorcycle. 44% of the vehicles, which are almost 49 years old on average, will go under the hammer without a reserve price.
As always, the auction starts at 13:30 and can also be followed online. There will be plenty of parking spaces on site and food and drink will also be provided.
Mercedes, Chevrolet, Ford and Peugeot
As many as 47 brands will be represented in Toffen. The largest contingent, with six vehicles, bears the Mercedes star, followed by Chevrolet (5), Ford (4) and Peugeot (4). All other brands are represented with a maximum of three lots.
While the Mercedes-Benz cars are only 33 years old on average, the average age of a Ford is 60 years, and for Fiat it is 68 years.
And while three quarters of all Fords and even all three Jaguars go under the hammer without a reserve price, only 1/3 of all Bentleys, but no BMWs and Ferraris are offered "no reserve".
With an average upper estimate of CHF 154,167, the Ferrari brand is (once again) the most expensively represented.
Clear pre-war offer
Only three of the cars on offer date from before the Second World War, but they are well worth a closer look.
The Lancia Augusta Berlina, for example, dates from 1936 and looks very authentic. The 35 hp limousine will go under the hammer for CHF 12,000 to 16,000 (no limit).
The other two pre-war cars are somewhat older, a Fiat 501 B as a cab from 1922 and a Chrysler 72 4-Door Sedan from 1928, both of which are offered at moderate prices.
Many convertibles
In keeping with the start of spring, a total of 28 open-top cars are for sale in Toffen.
This starts with an elegant Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider from 1981 and extends to a VW Golf I GL Cabriolet from 1986.
Several open-top Mercedes from the SL and SLK series are on offer, as are two Chevrolet Corvettes and a Peugeot 504 Cabriolet.
A Porsche 944 S2 Cabriolet is also available, with an estimated value of CHF 25,000 to 28,000.
Limousine rarities
The extensive range of limousines in Toffen is also interesting. These include, for example, a 1972 NSU Ro80 with rotary engine for CHF 20,000 to 25,000.
However, you can also opt for a Fiat 126 or a Mercedes-Benz C280 (W202), both of which are likely to land in the four-figure range.
The Saab 96 Delux from 1964 with Wankel engine is certainly a rarity. The estimate here is CHF 18,000 to 22,000.
Two long-forgotten British limousines, a 1960 Vauxhall Victor Super and a 1969 Sunbeam Sceptre, are looking for new owners at much lower prices.
Classic Brits
Of course, there will be no shortage of classic British sports cars in Toffen on March 21, 2026.
Mention should be made of two MGB roadsters as coupés BGT, and an MG TF.
In addition, one older and two younger Bentleys come under the hammer.
The two Lotus models Elan +2 from 1968 and Super Seven Series 4 from 1970 should be exciting for fans of light cars.
And a Triumph TR3 A from 1960 is also likely to attract many a bidder to the Gürbetal.
The Aston siblings
Also British but significantly younger are two cars at the auction that could count on many common design principles and components.
The Aston Martin Rapide was based on the Aston Martin DB9.
On offer are a DB9 Volante from 2006 (CHF 55,000 to 65,000) and a four-door Rapide from 2011 (CHF 45,000 to 50,000).
The battle of the GTIs
It will be interesting to see which of the two classic GTIs is more popular with the bidders.
A 1983 VW Golf GTI from the Pirelli series will go under the hammer for CHF 18,000 to 22,000.
The opponent is a Peugeot 205 GTI 1.9 from 1987 with exactly the same estimated value.
Two Saab Sonett
A single Saab Sonett is already rare at auctions, but two examples are certainly the absolute exception. In Toffen on March 21, 2026, however, a 1969 Sonett II and a 1972 Sonett III, both with the Ford V4 engine, are looking for new enthusiasts.
With estimated values between CHF 25,000 and 30,000, they should actually succeed.
Young classics
There is also no shortage of almost new and still young (future) classics in Toffen.
This group is led by a Ferrari 296 GTB from 2025, which tops the range in terms of value at CHF 300,000 to 330,000.
But at CHF 130,000 to 150,000, the 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster also requires a well-filled wallet.
The Opel GT 2.0 Turbo from 2008 is more affordable, with a price tag of CHF 14,000 to 18,000.
There are two examples of the Jaguar XK8 series up for auction, a convertible from 1999 and an XKR Coupé from 1998.
And then, among many other models, there is a Maserati Spyder Cambiocorsa from 2003 for sale.
14 two-wheelers
Mention should also be made of the two-wheeler fraction, which is made up of mopeds and "real" motorcycles.
The BMW models R25 and R26 are interesting, but the Kawasaki H1F 500 March III from 1975 with a two-stroke engine would make the heart of the author of this announcement beat particularly fast. At CHF 12,000 to 15,000, however, this machine was priced correspondingly high.
We have not mentioned a Lamborghini Espada or the Buick Le Sabre Convertible, for example, but there will be no shortage of choice in Toffen on March 21, 2026, a good reason to take a closer look at the catalog now or to view individual offers on the Oldtimer Galerie website.
