Summer is here! Some people are thinking that a convertible would be the best thing ever. Catawiki currently has a whole selection of them up for auction and not only the cars are open, but also the prices, because the vehicles are auctioned without a minimum price.
How about a 1975 Chevrolet Corvette C3 with the T-top, for example? It has less than 80,000 miles on the clock and is currently in the Netherlands. Bidding so far is EUR 3720.
The white Ferrari Mondial QV convertible with a 3.2-liter engine from 1987 will probably be somewhat more expensive. Incidentally, this Ferrari belonged to the ex-wife of O.J. Simpson, who became famous worldwide. A picture of the famous car even made it into the "New York Post". The highest bid is currently EUR 15,000, but the auction will continue for a few more days.
The Auburn 852 Speedster from 1981 really smells of thirties opulence, although it was of course built much later. But the cars from Antique Autos of America have a good reputation for fidelity to the original and the Auburn on offer is said to be in good condition. EUR 19,000 is the current bid.
If you are more in the mood for British classics, you might like the Jaguar E-Type Series 3 from 1974. The hand-shifted car with the famous 5.3-liter V12 is currently priced at EUR 45,000, well below the estimate of EUR 100,000 to 115,000, but the E-Type is also being sold "no reserve".
The Pagoda is also one of the most popular classics. The white Mercedes-Benz 230 SL from 1964 with red interior on offer is manual and is said to be in good, drivable condition. The current asking price of EUR 19,000 certainly sounds like a bargain, provided the price does not rise sharply. After all, the estimated price is EUR 67,500 to 77,000.
The last example from Catawiki's "No Reserve" auction is a Porsche 911 L from 1968. This is an early Targa model with a folding rear window (known as a "soft window"). The two-liter was estimated at EUR 115,000 to 129,000, but currently stands at a modest EUR 24,000.
The auction with a total of over 40 vehicles, including a Cord, a Fiat 500 C Topolino Belvedere, a Porsche 968 Cabrio, a Triumph TR6, a BMW 635 CSI and a humpback Volvo PV444 will run until July 19, 2020 at 20:00.
