Oldtimer in Obwalden is a classic car party, with or without classic cars, and a photo festival for the whole family; for young and old. Once again this year, everything that once rolled along our roads will be on display at the O-iO from May 14 to 15: cars (including a steam car), trucks, buses, post buses, tractors, motorcycles, scooters, mopeds, bicycles (penny-farthings). In addition, many participants and spectators dress to match the vintage cars.
On Saturday, the classic cars will arrive in Sarnen from around 9:00 am. At 11:15 a.m. a 2-wheel corso will drive through Sarnen. From 13:45 to 14:45, spectators are invited to take free passenger rides, which are a highlight of the Whitsun weekend every year. At 3:15 pm, the classic cars will set off for the Event Center Seelisberg. Spectators in Sarnen can enjoy a concert.
On Whit Sunday, the classic cars will gather in Sarnen from around 9:00 am. From 10:00 a.m. they will set off for Beromünster. The first classic cars will be seen in Beromünster shortly after 10:00 am.
The O-iO entourage
Over 500 classic cars of various makes from 1900 - 1985, i.e. from a period of over 100 years, can be admired at the OiO every year. All vehicles are parked in Sarnen and set off from there to the excursion destinations. In addition, around 1500 active participants are expected, of which around 10% are children.
O-iO is proud to welcome so many kids and teenagers. They actively promote this and thus make their contribution to keeping the classic car scene attractive for the future. So, bring your children, grandchildren etc. along. They are all invited and will receive O-iO badges with their names on them. And can enjoy free ice cream, for example.
Clothes to match the classic cars
Many participants with classic cars come to the O-iO with clothes that match their respective cars, i.e. from the period from 1880 (the high wheels at the OiO) to around 1990.
Participation for spectators is free of charge and is therefore also an inexpensive Whitsun treat. Participants with their classic cars pay a contribution towards expenses of CHF 105 for both days, CHF 70 for Saturday and CHF 55 for Whit Sunday. The fee includes 2 participants, CHF 10 for each additional participant, children up to the age of 16 are free of charge. Two classic cars can be registered, i.e. a good and bad weather variant.
All further information on registration and the event can be found on the O-iO website.
