This happens more often, especially in older cars: The gearshift becomes sticky. This is usually caused by wear in the gearbox. A mechanical repair would cost a lot of money. But there is another way: The German additive specialist Liqui Moly offers a transmission oil additive, Getriebeoil-Additiv, which often eliminates the problems with manual gearshifts.
The transmission oil additive only needs to be added to the transmission oil. There it reduces friction and makes shifting easier. It contains the solid lubricantMoS2, which compensates for the unevenness of the metal surfaces and reduces wear. It also reduces the thermal load in the gearbox. This is because it does not contain any corrosive, chemically active components that could attack the sensitive non-ferrous metals in the gearbox. Thanks to its excellent wear protection properties, it can therefore still be used in classic cars and also in new vehicles with synchronized gearboxes.
Transmission oil additive is not a magic potion that can make major mechanical defects disappear. But in many cases, it can solve the problem, reduce the symptoms or greatly slow down the progression of the defect. The great advantage lies in its simple and inexpensive application. This makes it possible to dispense with a complex and expensive diagnosis and use the additive without great risk or as a preventative measure. Either the problem is solved and the case is closed. If the problem persists, almost nothing is lost because the time and costs involved were minimal. But there is a good chance that you can save time and money on diagnostics and mechanical repairs.
