Retro Classics Cologne, an international trade fair for classic car enthusiasts, will take place for the second time from November 15-18. There will be a wide range of classic cars, but also modern classics, a large parts market and other rarities. As at Retro Classics Bavaria, top-class special shows will also be held here. The event will be rounded off by an entertaining supporting program. The trade fair will cover a net area of 40,000 square meters and, according to Cologne's Lord Mayor Henriette Reker, "fits in well with our city".
Opening evening
The Allianz Retro Night will once again take place on the evening of the opening day (November 15). This will feature entertaining talks, celebrities and scene types, as well as live music. All exhibitors, partners and sponsors, as well as visitors, are invited. Admission to the Allianz Night is included in the day ticket.
Special show "Stutz"
One of the special shows will revolve around the "Stutz Motor Car of America", which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The US car brand Stutz was originally founded in Indianapolis in 1913. After some notable successes with high-performance roadsters, Stutz shifted its focus to the high-price segment in the mid-twenties. There, however, competing brands such as Cadillac, Packard and Lincoln won the race for customer favor. The company was finally dissolved in 1939.
When investment banker James O'Donnell revived the legendary car brand in 1968, he was won over by the unconventional designs of designer Virgil Exner. The lavishly equipped limousines and coupés found buyers primarily in well-heeled circles. Among the most famous drivers were Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra and the German actor Curd Jürgens, as well as super stuntman Evel Knievel and boxing world champion Muhammad Ali.
14 different Stutz cars
A total of 14 different Stutz cars, plus a rare pre-war original, will be on display. These cover a wide range, from the first vehicles bearing the company name to the "new Stutz" of the seventies and eighties. The oldest model is a "Blackhawk" from the workshops of founder Harry C. Stutz, who produced automobiles in Indianapolis from 1911 onwards
Stutz expert Peter H. Madle, who is organizing the special show at Retro Classics Cologne, is particularly proud to be able to show at least one example of each standard model. "This is the first time in Europe that you can marvel at such a number and variety of Stutz vehicles at one event!"
Reduced admission on Sunday afternoon
As the gates do not open until 1 p.m. on Remembrance Day, admission prices are reduced by up to 50 percent. "We see these Sunday rates not least as an offer to all those who spontaneously decide to visit the trade fair. Apart from the shortened opening hours, however, the trade fair will operate as normal," says Karl-Ulrich Herrmann, Managing Partner of Stuttgarter RETRO Messen GmbH
Admission prices Sunday, 1 pm to 6 pm: day ticket EUR 10, family day ticket EUR 20 and happy hour ticket EUR 5.
