Last year, the Chopard Racecar Trophy was launched for the first time at the Ennstal Classic. This year it has some attractive new features.
On Thursday, July 10, the starting signal will not be given at the mountain stage on the Gröbminger Stoderzinken, as was the case last year - and already propagated this year - but at the Red Bull Ring.
Start at the Red Bull Ring
The first competition on the Styrian Grand Prix circuit near Spielberg starts on Thursday afternoon. When the starting field of the Ennstal-Classic arrives in the afternoon for its special stage on the Formula 1 track, the cars of the Chopard Racecar-Trophy will have already received their checkered flag.
For the first time on the Tauplitzalm mountain road
And the promoters of the Chopard Racecar Trophy have now succeeded in providing a new venue for the second day on Friday, July 11: the Tauplitzalm mountain road in Bad Mitterndorf. Instead of the Dachstein toll road (as last year), this wonderful, winding mountain road will be ridden on Friday morning. There is space for a paddock at the start in the valley and the road is easier to close off because the traffic volume is nowhere near as high as on the Dachstein toll road.
After the races on the Tauplitzalm mountain road, the entourage moves to the Niederöblarn airfield, just 20 kilometers away, where the next race is scheduled.
After the races of the Chopard Racecar Trophy, the Ennstal-Classic field arrives at the Niederöblarn airfield and completes a special stage.
On Saturday, the Chopard Racecar Trophy will line up for the final Moosheim-Gröbming stage, just like last year.
The following classification applies for the Red Bull Ring and Niederöblarn: The lap times can be chosen by the drivers themselves. The two lap times with the smallest deviation from each other count for the classification. For each deviation from the target time, 1 point is awarded per 1/100th of a second.
On the Tauplitzalm and at the Moosheim-Gröbming stage, a target time corresponding to a 50 km/h average is prescribed. Stopping is not permitted within the last 100 m to the finish line. Stopping and undercutting the target time mean penalty points.
It is already clear that it can be driven smoothly.
