With its 40th edition in 2023, the popular classic car show “Auto e Moto d’Epoca” moved from charming Padua to Bologna after 39 years. It quickly became the largest classic car show in Europe. The historic halls of Fiore di Padova were renovated, but the show did not return. This disappointment among many visitors seems to have prompted the Bologna-based organizer, Intermeeting, to launch a new show for Padua: “Padua only Classics” is the name of the concept, which is set to take place for the first time from February 26 to 28, 2027.
Only classic cars and motorcycles that are at least 50 years old—meaning those built no later than 1977—are eligible. This automatically excludes all highly marketable “youngtimers,” neoclassics, and modern supercars, which are appearing more and more frequently at other classic car events. Nevertheless, the new Padua trade show is intended first and foremost to be an exclusive sales event. The organizer itself speaks of “automotive excellence” and vehicles “selected for their technical, cultural, and symbolic value.” It’s somewhat reminiscent of the Techno Classica “Salon” planned for this fall in Dortmund, which also aims to define itself through exclusivity.
The three other focal points in Padua are to be parts, the scene, and automobilia. Intended as a “complement to other major events,” the fair aims above all to become a gathering place for collectors, restorers, and enthusiasts. Craftsmanship, memories, and passion will come together to create an exclusive experience when artisans, eyewitnesses, and experts convene in Padua. The new platform aims to be more than just an exhibition space; it seeks to be a cultural gathering place where cars and motorcycles are celebrated as testaments to ingenuity, style, and industrial identity.
