The new SwissClassics Revue 92-4/2022 is on newsstands and in subscribers' mailboxes. It provides detailed, illustrated information about the things that interest classic car enthusiasts. The main topic is the bread-and-butter cars of the late sixties. The buyer's guide is dedicated to the popular Volvo P1800 / 1800 ES. One article gets to the bottom of the causes of classic car breakdowns and suggests how some can be avoided. And then the stories of Graemiger's Cheetah and Kalman von Csazy and his Ferrari 250 GTO are told.
Almost forgotten bread-and-butter cars of yesteryear
Around two years ago, SwissClassics Revue looked at the everyday cars of the early sixties; now it's the turn of the cars of the late sixties (up to the early seventies), which battled it out with the VW Beetle and the Opel Kadett for market share.
Citroën Ami 8, DAF 55 Marathon, Fiat 600, Simca 1501 Special and Triumph 1300 are portrayed, all cars that are rarely seen on the road today and are maintained and driven by enthusiasts.
Classic car breakdowns ...
... and how to avoid or rectify them. This is the subject of the "Special" in issue 4/2022. Many classic car breakdowns have simple causes and some don't even have to happen if you take precautions.
What do the specialists and experienced classic car mechanics recommend? What to do if a breakdown still occurs? The article shows ways.
The rare sports cars from innocenti
Innocenti initially built normal Austin models, but Ferdinando Innocenti wanted to show that he could also develop his own cars. He used the technical basis of the Austin-Healey Sprite and added a body designed by Tom Tjaarda (Ghia). The Italian version of the Sprite looked much more grown-up and modern than the original, but it was also clearly.
Even a later and slightly longer coupé could not change the unsatisfactory sales figures, so the Innocenti S and C remained rare. Only a few have survived, and they are directly compared and portrayed in the new issue.
Should you buy a Volvo P1800?
The new buyer's guide is dedicated to the Volvo P1800 and the 1800 ES. The two sporty Volvos are popular, but are they also problem-free?
What are the weaknesses and what should you look for when looking for a car? The buying guide provides answers.
Csazy and his GTO
Kalman von Csazy grew up wealthy and convinced his father to buy him a Ferrari 250 GTO for racing. He was quite fast with it, but when his father's money stopped flowing, Csazy fell into poverty and eventually died as a social case in a one-room apartment in Zurich.
Graemiger's Cheetah
Chuck Graemiger and his Cheetah racing car were not granted great success. Nevertheless, the unconventional Swiss designer left a lasting mark on motor racing. One article tells the whole story.
Of course, the usual sections and articles that are part of every SwissClassics Revue are just as much a part of the magazine as the more than 120 vehicle advertisements that entice readers to buy interesting old cars.
