Porsche Fahrer 2-2020 is now available at newsstands and online. This issue delights classic car enthusiasts with its usual exciting articles. These include a journey back in time to the beginnings of the Turbo era at Porsche and a portrait of a company that has set itself the task of restoring rebuilt Porsche models to their original condition. The reader is also told why there are masses of Porsches in the middle of Jürgen Rudolf's house and how they get there from the garage ...
Road. Race track. Turbo.
A photo from 1975 prompted the editors of Porsche Fahrer to take a closer look at the beginning of the "Turbo phase" at Porsche. The picture shows both a Porsche 911 Turbo and a 911 Carrera RSR 2.1. The two mechanics and the man looking at the 911 Carrera are intended to visualize the qualities of the Turbo on the racetrack, while the woman posing next to the "tamer" 911 Turbo stands for the fact that this model series can also be successful on the road. This chapter explores the origins of this photo and also sheds light on the period at Porsche when the Turbo became increasingly important.
Tin is gold
Those who didn't have a lot of money but still wanted to fulfill their dream of a "new" Porsche were happy to resort to unorthodox means. With a lot of hard work and meticulousness, people converted scrap-ready Porsche models so that they at least looked like a new car. This gave them a kind of "half" new car for relatively little money. But what can you do if you want to undo the restoration and restore the car to its original condition...?
Living more beautifully
Some people are such big fans of Porsche that one or two models in the garage at home are not enough for them. Even 5 or 6 models are not enough. At some point, there are so many models that there is simply not enough space. A second garage or another parking space is not a solution either. What do you do now? How about simply bringing the models into the house?
