The latest issue of Oldtimer Markt hit the newsstands just in time for the summer vacation. A wide range of topics keeps classic car fans interested, regardless of whether they are interested in four or two wheels.
High tech from Japan
From the outside it looks comparatively simple and plain, but the Nissan Skyline GT-R of the R32 series from the end of the 1980s has it all: all-wheel steering, biturbo, six cylinders. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h took 4.7 seconds if you could shift gears quickly enough with your left hand, as the steering wheel is normally on the right. In the current issue, you can admire the car and its predecessors and successors on many pages.
Restoration of a glass convertible
The pretty Frua cabriolets of the Glas brand tended to rust in their early life, and restoration work was correspondingly time-consuming.
The fact that the same 1700 GT convertible had to be completely rebuilt twice in 30 years is rather unusual and definitely worth reading about.
Design icon
The DeSoto Custom Coupé from 1942 definitely stands out and is an occasion for a look back at the 32-year history of the retort brand from America.
Hatchback sedans in comparison
The Rover SD1 and Citroën CX were already a case for individualists when they were active, and that hasn't changed to this day.
Oldtimer Markt compares the two saloons, which actually only have the shape of the rear in common.
Buying advice Alfa Romeo Bertone GT
The Bertone coupé based on the Giulia has always enjoyed a large fan base. But rust also gnaws at this pretty designer piece, so you should take a closer look when buying, as the six-page buying guide shows.
Down with the fins
Fifty years ago, Mercedes presented the W108 model series without any tail fins at all. Oldtimer Markt made this the cover story and worth 11 pages.
We also learn a lot about Messerschmitt's record-breaking fighter, the KR200, and find out that ZF once (almost) built a car. We can take a look at the reopened Alfa Museum in Arese. We learn how to retrofit a folding roof to our classic car and how to thoroughly clean the interior of our car. Motorcycle fans will be delighted with the ride report on the Moto-Guzzi Le Mans III and the report on the Brough V2 with 500 cm3, which was only built nine times. And in the ad check, R. Jürgen Gössling finds a Ford A vo 1931 that is really worth recommending.
