Editor-in-chief Peter Steinfurth already mentions it in the editorial. More and more classic car enthusiasts love the classic car hobby for the sake of driving rather than wrenching. And it is precisely to these people that the classic car market crew recommends a series of classic cars from seven different car nations.
It starts with the standard classic Mercedes Benz 300 SL (R 107) and ends, surprisingly for some, with the TVR 3000 M. The criteria for the selection included reliability and low maintenance costs. The briefly described vehicles also include the Porsche 944, the Opel Monza, theFord Capri, the MG B, the Rolls-Royce 20/25 HP, the Jaguar XJ40, the Alfa Romeo Giulia, the Iso Rivolta IR 300, the Autobianchi A 112, the Ford Mustang and the Citroën 2 CV, to name just a few examples. The 25-page article explains why which vehicles are particularly recommended.
A rally car from Ferrari
Ferrari was rarely seen on dusty and rocky rally tracks in the 1970s, one exception being the Ferrari 308 GTB "Michelotto", built on the basis of production vehicles by Giuliano Michelotto, equipped with plastic bodies and eight-cylinder engines boosted to around 300 hp.
Oldtimer Markt tells the story of the oddball and shows a reconstruction from MAT.
Old becomes almost new
A special task has been devised for a VW Golf I GTD .
The badly weathered specimen is used to show how much of the original substance can be saved with the right care products and techniques. In order to show this in a particularly spectacular way, only one side is treated in this way in the report. What the result looks like and whether the Golf was able to avoid a repaint can be read in issue 12 of Oldtimer Markt.
The Beetle on the dividing line
Anette Johann takes the reader on a very special trip in the Pretzel Beetle . The journey leads along the former border between West Germany and East Germany.
Beautifully photographed by Stefan Lindloff and full of surprises to read.
And then there's ....
The buyer's guide is dedicated to the Audi RS2 built with Porsche assistance, which Oldtimer Markt attests sportiness and suitability for everyday use.
The restoration story in issue 12/2014 is dedicated to a Simca Cinq, the French version of the Fiat Topolino.
And for eternal know-it-alls, Wolfgang Blaube explains why a Porsche 917 can have a worse cd value than a Land Rover 88, along with other automotive curiosities.
Also worth reading is a report on a meeting of the Gläser convertibles. And if, contrary to the editorial, you're a DIY enthusiast, there's an article on how to dismantle your engine professionally.
