The new Motor Klassik is set for summer and compares station wagons from four manufacturers, namely Volkswagen (Apal Buggy), BL (Mini Moke), Renault (4 Plein Air) and Citroën (Méhari). In addition, entry-level saloons from Mercedes, Jaguar and Citroën and four-cylinder Porsches from the sixties and seventies were compared.
National heroes from Jaguar, Mercedes and Citroën
The Jaguar XJ-6, Mercedes-Benz /8 and Citroën D Spécial may not be the top models, but they embody luxurious saloons in which the engineers did their best not to make compromises at the expense of comfort.
Summertime is beach mobile time
Admittedly, sandy beaches are not that easy to find, but beach mobiles are also fun on asphalt. At least that's what Motor Klassik thinks and compares the VW-based Apal Buggy with the Mini Moke, the Citroën Méhari (2 CV) and the Renault 4 Plein Air.
It is not entirely clear why the more suitable Renault Rodéo was not included, but that was probably a question of availability. They're all fun, you can tell just by reading the article.
Preselected Englishmen
Michael Orth was able to take two gnarled pre-war Brits out for a drive, with two Armstrong Siddeley Specials with Wilson pre-selector gearboxes at the start.
Both cars are easier to drive than you might think.
Three times four cylinders at Porsche
In the sixties and seventies, Porsche offered three different models with four-cylinder engines, the 912, the 914/4 and the 924.
Dirk Johae has compared them and finds that they all have their merits.
Three particularly rare beetles
They are all rarities: the Hebmüller Cabriolet, the Romesch Cabriolet and the Stoll Coupé. Motor Klassik brings them together at the Paul Pietsch Classic.
The few pages presenting 10 cars that require courage to buy are also amusing, including the Matra 530 LX, the Alfa Romeo Arna and the Lloyd LP400. Important recommendations are given to people who would like to bid at an auction. A hearty restoration of a Morris Minor shows that you don't always have to enjoy super classics. The service station is dedicated to the Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3, which is not cheap at all, and a driving report compares the Fiat 124 Pininfarina with the Maserati Biturbo Spyder.
