From four issues with 140 pages each to 12 issues per year and now 212 pages, Auto Bild klassik has come a long way. The latest issue is now on newsstands and is once again packed with interesting and surprising facts from the world of classic and vintage cars.
Older or younger?
Which is the better classic car if there are two comparable types to choose from? Should you go for the (mostly) mature young model or its ancestor, who was mostly responsible for creating the legend?
Auto Bild compares a VW Beetle from 1951 with an example from 2003, a Porsche 924 from 1976 with its successor 968 from 1993, the Alfa Romeo Giulia from 1966 with the smoothed version from 1974, an early MG B from 1964 with its rubber boat descendant from 1978 and the BMW 1600-2 from 196 with its more modern brother BMW 1802. We won't reveal which is the better choice here, but it's in the magazine.
From loom to world market leader
Every child knows the Toyota Corolla and the Celica has long since become a classic, but the history of Toyota is much longer and still only known to a few.
That's why Auto Bild klassik is going back to the very beginning and also showing unknown early models in the "Toyota Saga".
The memories of Claus Mirbach
He is one of the veterans of the classic car trade in Germany - Claus Mirbach.
He has now published his memoirs and Auto Bild klassik reveals a few tidbits.
A comparison of muscle cars
They are among the strongest trump cards in the car quartet and are the center of their own scene, the American muscle cars. Helge Thomsen and Lukas Hambrecht took on five of them and compared them: Plymouth Road Runner Superbird (the one with the huge rear wing), Dodge Charger 440, Ford Torino GT 429, Pontiac GTO and Chevrolet Chevelle SS 350.
Beautiful photos with the use of models make the article a pleasure to read and, incidentally, you also find out the name of the winner on points. And no, he doesn't have a giant wing.
The new issue of Auto Bild klassik is also dedicated to the elaborate restoration of a Mercedes Benz 300b, gives advice on buying a VW Bus T3, portrays "So wird's gemacht" (That's how it's done) author Rüdiger Etzold and reports on many other things in the 212 pages.
The new Auto Bild klassik 11/2014 is now available in magazine stores.
