The Technik Museum Sinsheim's current major project is making steady progress. Following the exhibition-specific expansion and exhibition design by the Technik Museum, the doors to the new and modern Hall 3 will open on Thursday, September 19, 2019. The first special exhibition there is dedicated to the traditional Alfa Romeo brand.
Due to a lack of space for the large number of diverse exhibits, the museum's board of directors agreed to build an extension, known as "Hall 3", in Sinsheim. The cubic building (approx. length: 65 m, width: 45 m), with a floor area of approx. 3000 square meters and a parapet height of 12 m, is mainly intended to house periodically changing themed and special exhibitions; the high display windows provide a view of the current exhibition in each case
The completion of the new Hall 3 marks the start of a new chapter for the Technik Museum Sinsheim. The milestone in the museum's history is being celebrated accordingly. The first special exhibition in this hall is dedicated to none other than the world's most traditional car manufacturer. Since 1910, Alfa Romeo has been the epitome of outstanding technology, ground-breaking innovations and breathtaking design. The special exhibition "Myth of Alfa Romeo" guides museum visitors through the brand's history, characterized by passion, emotion and elegance.
The car with the mysterious brand logo has always been a point of contact and a hub for important personalities of the past century: designers such as Pininfarina and Zagato worked for the company and created timeless classics of automotive history. Racing drivers such as Tazio Nuvolari, Enzo Ferrari and Jean Alesi, as well as engineers and designers, developed the brand further and brought it to life. Legendary racing victories, "made in Italy" engineering and a striking design helped the sleek Milanese to achieve cult status.
At Alfa Romeo, the focus was not just on the car, but on a whole attitude to life. After all, the cars were not built, but created, according to Alfa Romeo Germany. "In our exhibition, together with Alfa Romeo, we will present an overview of the history of the company in both motorsport and design. This begins in the pre-war period with top models such as a 6c Mille Miglia and continues with design icons such as a Montreal through to cars with rarity value such as an Alfa Romeo Matta," comments exhibition curator Moritz Dressel on the content of the new special exhibition.
The new special exhibition "Mythos Alfa Romeo" can be seen from Thursday, September 19, 2019 in the new Hall 3 of the Technik Museum Sinsheim daily from 9 am. The visit is included in the total admission price of the museum. More information: www.technik-museum.de/alfa
