"The vibrant and dynamic metropolis of Munich, over 100 years of historic industrial architecture and a large portion of mobile passion are the ingredients of the new Motorworld," says Andreas Dünkel, Chairman of the Motorworld Group. "Our employees and partners, everyone involved in the construction and the entire Motorworld family have achieved great things over the past few years: Together we have tinkered, planned, developed, built, marketed, rented, put horsepower on the road and worked many hours on the success of Motorworld Munich. Always in view: The moment of the opening. Now it has come. Motorworld München is up and running. Unfortunately, the pandemic has thrown a spanner in the works. A grand opening event has not yet been possible. The doors of Motorworld München are open, but we will celebrate later. We look forward to welcoming petrol heads, car guys, bikers, classic car enthusiasts, culture lovers, lifestyle fans and all interested parties from Munich, Germany and around the world."
Motorworld München is located on the site of the former Deutsche Bahn repair works in Munich-Freimann. Its centerpiece is the impressive, listed locomotive hall, where locomotives were once repaired and where new steam is now coming after 25 years of standstill. With its gigantic dimensions - 185 meters long, 90 meters wide and up to 18 meters high - it is one of Europe's largest self-supporting historic steel structure halls. The hall and the other buildings belonging to the ensemble have been extensively renovated in recent years and supplemented with carefully integrated modern building elements. The site covers a total of 75,000 square meters of land.
The Munich Adventure World is the company's largest project to date, which is also reflected in the following construction figures: The locomotive hall alone has over 20,000 square meters of roof space; its basement has meant that over 300,000 tons of earth (= 8'000 truckloads) had to be moved; more than 1,000 doors and 6,000 windows were installed; over 31,500 m3 of concrete was poured.
Strong brands on board
In future, vehicle fans will find everything their hearts desire at Motorworld München: exclusive trade in luxury automobiles, sports cars, classic cars, bikes and e-mobility, vehicle preparation and refinement, care and maintenance services as well as versatile lifestyle and merchandise stores. The Munich restaurant scene will also be truly enriched: seven gastronomic establishments of various kinds will be on hand to spoil visitors, including delicatessens, cafés and the High Line gourmet workshop.
Motorworld Inn
The Motorworld Inn themed restaurant sets a very special tone. It is furnished in the style of nostalgic workshops with great attention to detail and a vintage car atmosphere. Here you will find seating groups under the lifting platform, there a perfectly preserved Buick convertible, built in 1957, upside-down on the ceiling. Meetings and private dinners can be held in separate rooms in a fascinating old forge or in the vintage pit-stop area. Fans of the Golden Twenties can travel back in time in the Private Cinema. The magical world of the good old days runs like a red thread through the entire concept - right down to the sanitary facilities. In culinary terms, everything revolves around selected food classics from the automobile nations of Italy, the USA and "good old Germany".
Four-star Hotel Ameron Munich Motorworld
With Motorworld, the Althoff Group is also coming to the Bavarian capital with the four-star Hotel Ameron. It combines a fascination for driving culture with the highest level of hotel comfort. The two-storey hotel with its high-gloss mirrored façade designed by an artist is integrated into the Lokhalle and is a real eye-catcher. The 156 designer rooms, including six premium suites, impress with their unique flair and pay homage to the world of motorsport. Three Car & Bike Studios even allow guests to park their cars or motorcycles directly in their own room and always have them in view through a large glass pane. The four-star hotel also has an Italian restaurant with the new Ameron concept "Bacio della Mamma", which serves traditional Roman dishes, as well as a Vitality Spa with a view of the historic Lokhalle.
Events and conferences: Steam dome and racing legends
For many years, the internationally renowned event halls Zenith, Kesselhaus and Kohlebunker, which are part of the industrial-historical ensemble of Motorworld München, have enjoyed great popularity in the concert, event and trade fair scene. With the Lokhalle and the building 79 in front of it, which is also home to the Drivers & Business Club Munich, there are now 22 additional conference rooms as well as the new event and concert hall "Dampfdom", which is available for professional acts and unforgettable events with its organic architectural language, sublime balconies, a modern backstage area and a capacity of up to 2,400 people. The three themed conference rooms, which Motorworld has dedicated to the internationally renowned racing driver legends Hans-Joachim "Strietzel" Stuck, Leopold "Poldi" Prince of Bavaria and Walter Röhrl with Christian Geistdörfer and furnished in close collaboration with them, are also very special.
Motorworld Munich: CO2 neutral
Sustainability is a major issue for the Motorworld Group. An essential part of this concept is the preservation of listed, historically significant buildings such as the ensemble in Munich. The Motorworld Group also uses renewable energy sources in order to meet the increasing demands of environmental protection and efficiency. At Motorworld Munich, 1100 kilowatt peak (kWp) photovoltaic systems and combined heat and power plants with 360 kilowatts of electrical output are in operation. This produces a total of approx. 2.6 million kWh of renewable electricity per year, which corresponds to an annual saving of approx. 700 tons of CO2. This means that even with full event operations in the post-Covid era, Motorworld Munich can still call itself climate-neutral.
Ideal transport connections and over 1300 parking spaces
Perfect location and easy to reach: The Münchner Erlebniswelt has ideal transport connections - directly on the A9 highway, just a few minutes' drive from the Allianz Arena and within walking distance of the U6 underground line, "Freimann" stop. There are 620 parking spaces directly on the premises and in a new underground parking garage built especially for this purpose (free parking for up to 30 minutes). Another parking garage with over 750 parking spaces is currently under construction. There are also sufficient bicycle parking spaces for cyclists.
The best thing: free admission
Motorworld München is now the ninth location of the multi-award-winning Motorworld Group, the world's largest brand-independent sports car and classic car center.
