The special interest media house Motor Presse Stuttgart and its flagship Auto Motor und Sport are opening fascinating rolling car museums with a total of four classic car rallies from May to October.
Crowning finale to the anniversary
The high-caliber events are highlights of Auto Motor und Sport's 75th anniversary. The popular classic trio Paul Pietsch Classic (May 21/22) in the footsteps of the publisher, the Silvretta Classic Rallye Montafon (July 1 to 3), which is being held for the 23rd time, and the 18th Sachsen Classic (August 19 to 21) will be crowned by the Luxembourg Classic (October 1/2), which is being held for the first time to mark the anniversary.
In the footsteps of the founder
To kick things off, the Paul Pietsch Classic will take you along dream roads through the Black Forest, following in the footsteps of the publisher who, together with his two friends Ernst Troeltsch and Joseph Hummel, published the first issues of Das Auto magazine in Freiburg in 1946, thus laying the foundations for Auto Motor und Sport.
But Paul Pietsch (1911 - 2012), a native of Neustadt, was not only a journalistic pioneer with the first German car magazine in the Federal Republic, he was also one of the most successful racing drivers of his generation. The tribute to Paul Pietsch in the Black Forest is followed by the 23rd edition of the Silvretta Classic Rallye Montafon, the classic among the classic car rallies organized by Auto Motor und Sport.
The rally on breathtaking Alpine roads in Vorarlberg and Tyrol with start and finish in Montafon marked the start of the media company's successful event concept almost a quarter of a century ago.
This is followed by the fascinating rolling car and motorcycle museum of the 18th Sachsen Classic, starting in the traditional automobile stronghold of Zwickau and finishing in Dresden.
Premiere on noble routes
The Luxembourg Classic 2021 celebrates its premiere on impressive routes of the fine Grand Duchy. Over two days, the classic rally leads from the capital city with one of the three administrative seats of the European Union to Schengen. This small border community in the border triangle on the Moselle made European history with the agreements named after it to waive border controls at the EU's internal borders. A worthy location for the 75th anniversary of one of the largest and most important car magazines in Europe: Auto Motor und Sport.
