As part of Mallorca Car Week on Sunday, October 12, 2025, car fans had the opportunity for the first time on the island to co-pilot a lap through the old town of Palma in American classics and supercars as part of "Arte Sobre Ruedas - Ruta Solidaria".
The event was part of the festive program in Palma for the "Dia de la Hispanidad". The proceeds from the tickets went 100% to the Fundacion Reial Mallorca, the charity organization of the Spanish first division soccer club Real Club Deportivo Mallorca. With this event, the participating Mallorcan drivers succeeded in consolidating the positive attitude towards classic cars among local political institutions. These institutions also decide on restrictions for classic cars in environmental zones on Mallorca.
Kick-off
The international part of Mallorca Car Week kicked off on Wednesday, October 15 with a reunion of guests at the Plazy Ouzup of the Steigenberger Hotel and Resort Camp de Mar. Regular guests come with different "treasures" from year to year, and the trend among classic cars is clearly towards "drivable" automobiles. Some guests have their vehicles transported to the Steigenberger's underground garage, while others arrive in their own vehicles. Many guests from the island also stay overnight at the hotel.
The "best Hamburg barbecue" put guests in the mood for a wonderful time on the island. General Manager Britta Beringer and her team have been excellent hosts of Mallorca Car Week for years. The guests benefit from their commitment and excellent service.
First round trip
The relaxed "Russel Stevens Drive" started at 11:00 on Thursday. The route was chosen by Enrique Carbonell as a photo drive with no speed limits. Particular emphasis was placed on roads with low cyclist frequency. The destination was the exquisite Kimpton Aysla restaurant on the Santa Ponsa golf course, which served light Spanish delicacies for lunch.
Second tour and Ghibli presentation
On Friday there was a route recommendation to the Sa Bassa Blanca Museum at Hans-Peter Porsche's golf course in Alcanada with a great view of the island in front of it. On Friday evening, the 1969 Maserati Ghibli SS by Hans Wiedner from Austria was presented at Gerhardt Braun's leading art gallery in the presence of Alejandro Sáenz de San Pedro García, the Balearic Islands' Minister of the Economy.
Even the positioning of the Maserati in the narrow driveway of the Braun Gallery drew applause from the fans with the sonorous sound of the twin exhaust. The Maserati Ghibli is considered one of Giorgetto Giugaro's best automotive designs. The bright green Maserati perfectly matched the exhibited paintings by Heiner Meyer, one of the most famous Pop Art artists. He said: "Automobiles, from the 1920s/1930s to the 1950s and especially the 1960s, are actually sculptures on wheels. They have an aura".
Art on Wheels Mallorca - in Spanish "Arte Sobre Ruedas Mallorca" - celebrates the artistic dimension of the automobile and combines its design with other creative disciplines such as fine art in paintings and sculptures and architecture.World-famous classic cars bear the names of well-known designers such as Giorgetto Giugiaro, Jean Bugatti, Marcello Gandini, Battista Pininfarina, Colin Chapman and many others. Major museums, such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao and now also the Es Baluard Museum in Palma, have shown emblematic examples of automotive design in their exhibitions.
Competition for beauty
At the international Concours d'Elegance of the Mallorca Car Week, traditionally held on Saturday, further examples of the art of automotive design were exhibited in glorious sunshine on the renowned Andratx golf course and judged by the international jury headed by Chairman Ulrich Knieps. Ulrich Knieps is well known in the scene as the charismatic head of BMW Group Classic for many years.
20 classic cars and 10 supercars were selected for the Concours by the Selection Committee and were invited to drive onto the Andratx golf course.
Daniel and Katja Hartert's Mercedes-Benz 280 SE 3.5 was awarded the Russel Stevens Award as Best of Show.
The prize for Public Voting and Best Original Condition went to Hans and Susanne Wiedner for their Maserati Ghibli SS.
The prize for the best restoration went to Thomas and Heike Simon with their Ford Fairlane 500 Skyline.
Best Supercar was the Ferrari Roma from Stefan Kemna. Best Competitive Car was the Art Design Audi TT by XXX Madeleine Genssler. Special Awards from the jury went to Peter Rudert with his Jensen Interceptor and Hans Heinicke with his last air-cooled Porsche 993 Turbo.
Detective drive at the end
The ninth "Crime Drive" closed the Mallorca Car Week 2025 on Sunday. Guests followed in the footsteps of master detective Nick Nickerbocker as he solved a spectacular gold heist from the museum in Palma. Actors mimed the role of witnesses to the crime. "Emilio Mamarotti", "Greta Garboson" and Speedy Montez provided important clues and indications. The use of the Internet did not help at all in solving the case.
Next edition from October 10 to 18, 2026
The next Mallorca Car Week will once again be organized as a Spanish non-profit event by "Family and Friends" from 10 to 18 October 2026. The forwarding company Mallorcar has been professionally transporting vehicles in closed car transporters to Mallorca to the underground car park of the Steigenberger and back at a special price for years.
For those who want to travel with their classic or supercar, the travel agency Legendary Routes has prepared an exciting tour for owners of classic and supercars and their clubs to Mallorca Car Week 2026.
