Indeed: the standard of the Lenzerheide Motor Classics is impressively high! The highest circuit in Europe stretches along the Heidsee lake at 1478 meters above sea level through a picturesque mountain landscape. The well-maintained and secured track is ideal for historic racing cars from all eras. From June 13 to 15, 2025, around 250 drivers will once again demonstrate their skills in nine racing fields and present their two- and four-wheeled treasures in the freely accessible paddock. Due to the great interest, a large number of vehicles had to be put on the waiting list.
The racing cars in the individual classes
However, the level of the racing fields and the activities on offer is also high, as this year two original vehicles will be presented that already competed in the Swiss Grand Prix at the 1957 European Championship.
Jürg Kohler's AC Bristol ACE, which came 3rd with Jean Gretener in 1957, will be in the paddock next to the Austin Healey 100 S in which Jean Pequignot competed in the challenging race. At Lenzerheide, he will be doing his laps with Marco Trevisan at the wheel.
Of course, last year's winner of the Special Recognition Award, Dr. Christian Jenny, will also be there. He will not only be bringing the winning car from 1951, the XK 120 from "Bätsch" Scherrer, to Lenzerheide once again, but also his legendary XK 120 Hansgen Special - a rarity in which Walter Hansgen won a prestigious victory at Watkins Glen in 1953.
However, the nine racing fields also include numerous rarities from the 70s and 80s. This era is becoming increasingly popular and racing cars, such as the BMW 3.0 CS Alpina Gr. B2 or the Lancia Delta Integrale Evo V2 Gr. A, not only inspire the fathers, but also their motorsport-loving offspring!
And when the 400 hp Reynard-89D - followed by the Martini MK 28 BMW Formula 2 - lets its eight cylinders roar in the field of formula cars, the hearts of the formula fans cheer and the atmosphere is almost like that of the Monaco Grand Prix.
But the "Battle of the Dwarves" field is also a real buzz! A rare Audi 50 LS with 131 hp is pitted against a Steyr-Puch 500 S Gr. 5, a flyweight with an impressive 90 hp. In general, the Lenzerheide Motor Classics team has placed great emphasis on a balanced mix of individual eras and brand representations in all classes.
An absolute highlight awaits us this year in the motorcycle field. None other than Jacques Cornu, one of Switzerland's most successful and popular motorcycle racers, is honoring the Lenzerheide Motor Classics with his participation. The endurance world champion, Grand Prix winner and multiple Swiss champion will be bringing his original factory Honda RS 250, which he rode to third place at the Belgian GP in 1986. This year's field of motorcycles comprises 34 riders, which underlines the importance of two-wheelers for historic racing on Lenzerheide.
To kick off the race weekend, the traditional Classic-Corso leads through the middle of the village on Friday evening. The vehicles are presented individually and then exhibited in the center. As every year, the traditional drivers' aperitif takes place on the Postplatz - framed by a small village festival with music, food stands and the popular soapbox event for the little ones.
A highlight every year are the rides in the race cab - pure adrenaline and not for the faint-hearted. As always, it's first come, first served, as places are in high demand and fill up quickly. A further attraction planned is a performance by the PC-7 Subito team, which will give a demonstration of its flying skills over Lake Heidsee on Saturday and Sunday after the midday rest period, taking off from Altenrhein airfield.
Helpful information
Probably the most significant innovation this year is an interactive event plan that can be downloaded to a smartphone via QR code. Everything you need to know about the race fields, vehicles, timetables and the catering and exhibition stands can be called up at any time. The intelligent navigation tool also enables intuitive wayfinding, similar to Google Maps, across the entire site so that visitors are guaranteed not to miss any of the program highlights. Even the paddock is digitally mapped and the locations of all vehicles can be selected and found directly.
In addition to the familiar spectator areas, a new hotspot will be opened directly on the race track at the Priva Lodge. The direct connection from the village to the event site and paddock at the Rothornbahn is now possible without restriction thanks to an additional footbridge over the forest path. And of course, our vintage post bus will be there to take visitors on a nostalgic ride from the paddock to the start and back every half hour.
As always, admission is free for all visitors. The Lenzerheide Motor Classics Association will be selling "supporter" trailers for a good cause on a voluntary basis. Food and drink can be found in the restaurants of our partners and on the event site at the Rothornbahn, where a cozy marquee and a grandstand invite you to linger. There are plenty of interesting things to see and experience at the numerous exhibition stands and the vintage trucks on display, which are exhibited by regional collectors, are sure to arouse the enthusiasm of young and old alike.
Further information can be found on the event website.
