Le Mans Classic takes place every two years, and this year on July 8, 2016 the time has finally come again! And all the signs are that the eighth edition of this internationally renowned event will be even better than any of the previous years.
For the first time in the history of "Le Mans Classic", there will be a separate field for the Group C cars. Although the well-known racing cars are not scheduled for one of the six plateaus like all the others, they will drive on the Le Mans circuit as part of an opening race. It's a shame that you won't be able to see Group C at night, but the field won't disappoint and will certainly thrill fans! The organizer has already officially announced today that over 40 Group C cars have registered!
Vehicles from 1982 to 1993 are registered in the field, although you can find a vehicle from almost every year in the current start list, but unfortunately you won't find a Porsche 956. Nevertheless, the list reads varied, despite ten Porsche 962 (!), and the anticipation of the event increases in any case.
In addition to the well-known contenders such as the Porsche 962, Lancia LC2, Jaguar and Mercedes, the most powerful car ever to take part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans will also be at the start: the Nissan R90 CK with 1128 hp.
But Le Mans wouldn't be Le Mans if it weren't for the unknown brands, which certainly also increased interest in the racing format: Alba, Emka, March, Sthemo, Rondeau, Spice and Tiga.
Among the rarities are a Gebhardt C91 from the era of the 3.5-liter machines and a Lola T92/10, which is rarely seen at Group C events.
For the 25th anniversary of Peugeot's Le Mans debut, a Peugeot 905 will also be at the start!
But if you don't want to wait for Le Mans Classic to see the Group C field, you should take a look at the upcoming Jarama Classic!
