In 2016, the Gstaad auction of the Oldtimer Galerie Toffen took place for the first time, and in 2017 a world record for this type of car was achieved with the sale of the ex-David Bowie Volvo 262C. In 2020, the popular auction in the event tent in Gstaad was canceled due to coronavirus, but it will take place again on December 29, 2021.
At least four dozen classic cars and motorcycles are expected to face the international bidders in the event tent in Gstaad.
More than 30 vehicles have already been announced and are expected to go under the hammer on the Wednesday between Christmas and New Year.
Roger Moore is known to have been a fan of Gstaad and spent many of his winter vacations there. So it makes sense that a white Lotus Esprit from the first series will be auctioned there, as this was the car used by the James Bond actor in the film "The Spy, who loved me".
The already familiar car spectrum ranges from the pre-war 1927 Hispano-Suiza H6B with Spohn bodywork from Ravensburg to the modern 2018 Ford GT super sports car.
In between, there are American firecrackers such as two Shelby GT350/GT500s, a 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray and a Chevrolet Chvelle SS396 from the same year.
Italian elegance and speed are not lacking either, as demonstrated by a Maserati Quattroporte from 1965, a Sebring from 1963 from the same manufacturer, a Ferrari 365 GTC/4 from 1971 or a Lamborghini Diablo VT from 1995.
From Porsche, a 911 T from 1973 and a 911 Turbo II 3.6 from 1993 will go under the hammer, while Volkswagen will contribute a Beetle Cabriolet from 1966.
If you don't want to go completely original, you can buy a Jaguar D-Type from Proteus or a Bugatti 35 C from Pur Sang.
And hot hatch fans might be interested in the Renault Sport Clio V6 24V 3.0 from 2003.
A very special treat for racing fans is the Sauber C5, which Herbert Müller once drove and which even took part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
This only lists about half of the already known consignments. There will then be around 50 or more classic cars on December 29, 2021.
Last-minute registrations are still possible for a few more days; the affluent and bidding Gstaad guests have already proven several times that surprises are possible between Christmas and New Year's Eve.
Further information on the Gstaad auction can be found on the website of the Oldtimer Galerie Toffen.
