Another event falls victim to the effects of the coronavirus. Although the Kerenzerbergrennen would have taken place on the weekend of 12 to 14 June 2020, the organizer is cancelling the motorsport event.
"For those responsible, this cancellation is a precautionary measure," says Peter Rufibach, OC President Kerenzerbergrennen 2020. The focus is on consideration for the people of Glarus, the helpers, spectators, participants and everyone else involved. At the moment, the long-term planning of such a major event is too uncertain.
"The financial damage remains manageable if the event is canceled early," says Rufibach. Thomas Kohler, co-responsible and managing director of the Automobile Club of Switzerland (ACS Mitte), supports this decision. "Due to the current situation, several large and established motorsport events in Switzerland have had to be canceled," explains Thomas Kohler.
Clarifications are already in full swing for a possible event next year in 2021. The organizer is very keen to find a satisfactory solution for all parties involved. Discussions with the canton, public authorities, sponsors and other persons or interest groups involved will soon be held in order to be able to announce a new date for the event in the coming weeks. The registered riders will be guaranteed a starting place for the next event.
The organizer would like to thank everyone for their understanding and expresses its regret that the Kerenzerberg Race 2020 cannot be held as planned.
