The owners of cars from Triumph, Morgan, MG, Vauxhall, Ford (UK), Hillman, Sunbeam, Lotus, Marcos, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin, Rover, Jaguar, Bristol, Alvis, and, and, and had of course hoped to finally meet again in Mollis on August 29, 2021, after the British Car Meeting (BCM) could not be held in 2020.
More than 1500 vehicles arrive at the airport in the canton of Glarus at any one time, some of them from abroad.
Still too many restrictions
But even after the latest easing of restrictions, the organization team led by Olivier Borgeaud sees no possibility of holding the event:
"Due to the size of the event, only GGG persons (GGG= vaccinated, recovered, tested) may be admitted. Due to the time required for this test, testing every single vehicle entering (sometimes with several occupants) would inevitably lead to a massive traffic jam in the entrance area and throughout Mollis. For this reason, we do not consider the BCM to be feasible in its current form this year."
In 2022 then
The next British Car Meeting is now scheduled to take place on August 28, 2022, in the hope that the pandemic will be over by then. The guest of honor "Land Rover" will then probably also be valid for the postponed event.
Further information can be found on the event website(soon to be updated).
