The Kampen Classics is a new highlight in Sylt's calendar of events. From June 18 to 21, the famous Whisky Mile will be transformed into a stage for classic cars, selected youngtimers and an enjoyment-oriented, style-conscious community. The response to the new event format has been fantastic - four weeks before the event, only a few starting places are still available for the excursions.
The Kampen Classics combine automotive passion with the special atmosphere of Sylt. "There are few places better suited to stylish classic vehicles than Kampen with its blend of Nordic elegance, exclusive hospitality and relaxed lifestyle. It is precisely this combination that the new event format aims to bring to life," says Birgit Friese, Tourism Director of the municipality of Kampen.
At the heart of Kampen Classics is Strönwai, Kampen's legendary whisky mile, which will be completely closed for the duration of the event. A curated parc fermé will be created here as a central meeting point for participants, guests and visitors. Unlike classic rallies or competitions, the focus of the Kampen Classics is deliberately not on speed or scoring, but on exchange, driving culture, design and the shared experience of automotive passion.
At the heart of the concept are the personally guided "Driving Experiences". In small groups of a maximum of 15 vehicles, participants experience selected routes across the island, accompanied by local guides and deliberately staged stops. The tours include a mussel dinner in Hörnum harbor, a visit to the legendary Sansibar wine cellar, to Hotel Severin's, where gallery owner Christiane Obermann presents the art objects in the orchard, or to star chef Johannes King, who gives an exclusive tour of his herb garden. These formats are complemented by convivial evenings in Sylt's in-locations such as the Hotel Rungholt, the Gogärtchen and the Sturmhaube.
In addition to the Driving Experiences, there are two other participation formats:
- "Exhibit & Encounter" gives classic and vintage car owners the opportunity to showcase their vehicle over several days in the parc fermé in the heart of Kampen - without taking part in a drive, but right in the middle of the action.
- The "Classic Stopover" Day Pass is aimed at guests who want to experience the Kampen Classics in one day and place their vehicle in the Parc fermé for a defined period of time.
All participation formats include a stylish finale with an evening event at a Kampen location, including food and drinks. Registrations for these three participation formats are possible until June 12.
"The event will also be a special experience for Sylt residents and island guests," promises organizer Kiki Schneider. "On all four days, visitors can expect a varied supporting program with automotive rarities, encounters and diverse culinary offerings from renowned Sylt restaurateurs along the Whisky Mile." Admission is free for all visitors. The event area is open from Thursday to Saturday from 10 am to 8 pm and Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm.
Classic cars and selected youngtimers that are characterized by originality, condition and history are eligible to participate. Respectful treatment of the vehicles and a high-quality, decelerated setting are deliberately at the heart of the event.
