James Bond is a name that most people will be familiar with. The action-packed agent films have been thrilling people around the globe since the 1960s. In the midst of the Cold War, the films provided a little cheer. Aston Martin cars were always involved.
Now Aston Martin, in collaboration with the production company of the Bond films, EON, has announced the production of 25 Aston Martin DB5s. The cult car of various Bond films (e.g. Goldfinger, Golden Eye) was extremely popular with the fan base thanks to its built-in gadgets.
With movie gadgets
According to Aston Martin, the new DB5 will also feature some of the world-famous Q refinements, and a rotating license plate has already been confirmed. However, no details have yet been released about the car's other hidden capabilities.
Expensive/valuable
According to Aston Martin, the price for the toy is just under 3.5 million Swiss francs or 3.1 million euros, plus tax, a considerable price.
Despite the price, the car will only be available in the original "Silver Birch" paint finish and will not be road-legal.
A sports car legend
The normal DB5 was built from 1963-1965 and a total of 898 units were produced. The car was a further development of the DB4, i.e. a modernization. The DB5 was given 42 hp more, an in-line six-cylinder engine with a displacement of 3995 cubic centimeters and ultimately 286 hp. It accelerated from 0 to 100 in just under 7.1 seconds and reached a top speed of 238 km/h.
