Once a year, a whole series of prestigious auctions are concentrated around Monterey Week in August, and this year is no exception.
RM Auctions has already built up a considerable list of rarities, but one of the most extraordinary vehicles is certainly the 1955 Jaguar D-Type.
Ice racing and starts behind the iron curtain
The Jaguar D-Type with chassis number XKD-530 was originally sold to Curt Lincoln in Helsinki (Finland). He used the car in the very popular ice races, but also in motor events behind the Iron Curtain, namely the Leningrad Grand Prix in 1961.
Only rarely does a Jaguar D-Type, one of just 71 vehicles built, come up for auction.
According to RM, the example on offer is in exceptionally good condition, having been faithfully restored by CKL Developments in England.
In addition to the Jaguar D-Type, the auction on August 16/17, 2013 will also feature a breathtaking Ferrari 750 Monza Spider from 1955....
....and an attractive Maserati A6GCS/53 Fantuzzi Spider on offer.
So if you still want to stock up for the Le Manc Classic 2014, a trip to the USA is recommended.
