It is now around 60 years since the paint colors for Heinkel vehicles were mixed and specified by the Heinkel company. A lot has happened since then, both in terms of paint technology and environmental requirements, so it was time to "reconstruct" the old paint processes and bring them up to date.
Cooperation between club and paint specialist
In over a year of close cooperation between the paint specialists at BASF Coatings GmbH, which specializes in classic cars, with its Glasurit brand and the type specialists at Heinkel-Club Deutschland e.V., it has been possible to make 31 original colors available again for the Heinkel Tourist, Heinkel Kabine, Heinkel Perle and Heinkel 150 models.
Scientific approach
With the help of an elaborate spectral color analysis, an exact color location was determined from the samples provided by the club (original painted sheet metal parts and/or original wet paint) and a new mixing formula was developed from this.
In a multi-stage process, the newly developed colors were optimized both colorimetrically and visually until the perfect result was achieved. Each of the 31 different shades was individually approved by the club experts to their complete satisfaction.
Into the future with original colors
It is impressive to see how the supplier industry and brand clubs are working together in the interests of the classic car community to ensure that a piece of cultural heritage is preserved. The approximately 8000 Heinkel vehicles can now look forward to a "bright" future.

In addition to the Heinkel colors, new colors have also been determined for Zündapp Janus and Messerschmitt vehicles.
