The original colors of the Porsche 356
The Porsche 356 - an iconic vehicle and a legend on wheels that established the beginnings of the Porsche brand 75 years ago. The bodywork, including the complete interior, was manufactured by the Stuttgart-based coachbuilder Reutter & Co. Reutter built over 60,000 of the approximately 78,000 vehicles of the legendary sports car for Porsche between 1950 and 1963.
The majority of these vehicles still exist today. However, repairs and restorations in past decades were often not carried out with the knowledge and standards of today. The market has long since recognized the importance of authentic restorations.
In 2018, Guido Eickholz, owner of Erlkönig Classic GmbH, and Ande Votteler, owner of Votteler GmbH, launched a unique research project to get to the bottom of the question of how the Porsche 356 was painted. The development using the latest paint technology was Glasurit's top priority. As a result, the color shades could be remixed exclusively with Glasurit worldwide. The certification is expressed by a certificate of authenticity from Reutter. Visitors can marvel at the colors at the trade fair stand.

The Glasurit handbook
The first edition of the "Glasurit Paint and Color Manual" was published in 1934. It developed into an encyclopaedia for the entire paint industry and is still considered one of the most important reference works today. The textbook that originated as the "Glasurit Handbuch" is now on the market in German and English under the title BASF Handbuch Lackiertechnik. The work is particularly interesting for newcomers and practice-oriented readers and provides an overview of the various painting sectors. Glasurit is now presenting all editions of the handbook at Techno Classica. In addition, an English translation of the original version will be available to visitors for the first time.
Color expertise online and on site: Color tone database and Glasurit network companies
Visitors to the Glasurit stand will be able to see just how excellently this historical color expertise translates into customer benefits. There, car enthusiasts will learn how to find the original color of their vehicle. This is because the Glasurit Classic Car Colors service not only offers access to the Glasurit color tone database, but also to a network of specialist paint stores.
