On September 15-17, long-distance fans can look forward to Olaf Beckmann's foxtail Manta. The fast Opel will be competing in the ADAC 1000 km race.
The experienced Opel tuner Kissling Motorsport converted the rally and endurance car on behalf of Olaf Beckmann in the early 1990s. The Fuchsschwanz Manta achieved cult status among fans as part of the 24-hour race or during appearances in the Nürburgring endurance series.
The Manta has now clocked up well over 100,000 kilometers at the Nürburgring.
But also the team with the old racing hands: Hans-Olaf Beckmann, Peter Hass, Volker Strycek and Jürgen Schulten have successfully contested many races together and are considered a particularly experienced team, and not just because of their average age of well over 60 years.
Giving up is not an option
There have been a few setbacks in recent years, such as a technical problem at the long-distance classic or a fire in the hall. The latter completely prevented the start in 2022. However, the team always bounces back.
"I laid every meter of cable myself and created every wiring harness myself. You have to look at how many cables I need to the rear to the rear lights, how many cables I need to the front to the engine compartment, how many cables I need here and there. The entire electrical system had to be redesigned," said Beckmann in the run-up to the 24-hour race.
The fans will certainly be delighted to see the charismatic Manta with the foxtail back at the start of the ADAC 1000 km. After all, it has acquired a very special connection to the Nürburgring and motorsport enthusiasts.
