The VLN has been around since 1977. The VLN, Veranstaltergemeinschaft Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring, is an association of ten motorsport clubs, which in turn are affiliated to the ADAC or the German Motorsport Association. The eleventh member, Nürburgring GmbH, joined in 2000. Together they organize the VLN races at the Nürburgring. The exciting thing about the VLN, originally called the Endurance Cup, is of course the wide range of vehicles that are sent onto the Nordschleife at the same time. Drivers of a wide variety of vehicles, from standard production cars to thoroughbred racing cars, compete against each other in different classes. The races last four or six hours.
