Comte Jacques de Wurstemberger, 1917-2009, was an automobile enthusiast throughout his life. He passed his driving test at the age of twenty and bought his first car, an MG TA.
A passionate racing driver
At the age of 30, he entered his first race under the pseudonym Hervé. In 1948, he bought the MG K3, with which the English racing driver Norman Black had already achieved various successes. He successfully drove several rallies in the south of France and Switzerland with this racing car and also took part in the Swiss Championship races.
Later, he also competed in an Aston Martin and a Jaguar XK120.
Passionate collector
As a result of his passion for cars, he developed into a passionate collector of beautiful and valuable automobiles over the years. These include valuable gems from the automotive culture of days gone by.
The Hervés collection includes various unique pieces from the legendary car manufacturer Avions Voisin, vehicles that are considered to be among the most beautiful in the world.
From private pleasure to public exhibition
In 2000, he founded the Fondation Hervé and opened the museum of the same name in Aigle, where the vehicles are displayed to the public.
Stephan Musfeld and the Pantheon Basel were able to convince the Hervé Foundation to show the vehicles for once in Muttenz, Switzerland. And so all the exhibits can be viewed at the Pantheon. The special exhibition runs from October 19, 2014 to April 6, 2015. As usual, an exhibition catalog is available for CHF 10.
Further information can be found on the Pantheon Basel website.
